- Uribe just hit a home run for the SF Giants to put them ahead 4-3. I thought he was older than my Mom; man, geritol must be really potent these days.
- Sarah Palin is speaking at CSU Stanislaus for some amount of money so embarrassing that nobody will even say how much; but, interestingly, on the news, they said that the event was bringing in about 500k and they expect to clear 250k, soooooo…. let’s say that the event cost them even 150k (which it won’t have) Sarah is going to earn a minimum of 100k for a 30 minute speech. So who ever said she was the dumb one?
- Brewfest “on tap” tomorrow in Placerville. Don’t miss it or you’re going to miss out. And if you do go, don’t miss the “Gothic Rose” shop, sooo awesome, right out of Harry Potter, I swear it’s true.
- I got a hysterical email forwarded from a friend. It came from a woman in Nevada I’ve met once, a retired lady now, a “white-flight-LA-Refugee” senior who is a stalwart Rush Limbaugh fanatic. She cites the goals for the communist party back in the 50′s as evidence that Obama’s administration is achieving those goals (I’m somewhat surprised that she’s not citing predictions by Nostradamus. Sounds like my grandma who was an ardent Democrat, but who saw a communist behind every bush (of maybe it was Bush). Not too sure about that.
- I guess the thing that really riles me about the communist talk is that a true communist isn’t even what the woman is talking about. Che Guevarra was a true communist. After driving the Americans out of Cuba, he worked for the state 7 days a week because he felt it was his duty. He was committed to the pure form of communism. But most people are into politics, and greed, and political advantage (more like Castro), which isn’t what communism is about. The trouble is that human nature intervenes, control and competition and ultimately capitalism wins the day. So why not be up front about our human nature to compete first, contribute and share second, why not just admit it and get on with life. There will always be poor people, there will always be rich people, and there will always be a friction between the two. Che is dead, and his clones are all in Berkeley getting high. I wish she’d get a clue about the Obama administration; agree or disagree with what they’re doing, it simply isn’t communist, there are interests being served for crying out loud, get that much straight.
- Maybe what she’s really offended by is the fact that Obama is getting things done. More in the first 18 months than GW did in eight years.
